Connect with clients in need of your skills in drug discovery
Advances in high-performance computing, computational techniques, and the ability to process large volumes of data have led to the growing significance of computational methods in the drug discovery process. Computational methods are now used extensively in drug discovery for a variety of purposes, including virtual screening, molecular modeling, and bioinformatics analysis.
Train yourself on the computational tools available on CureHackers (or publish your own tool) and get contracted to help advance prospective cures through each step of the preclinical drug discovery pipeline.
Contract sizes range from $200 to $50,000 and you keep 90%.

In 2016, after substantial financial investment in the traditional drug discovery process, Acadia Pharmaceuticals priced their new drug, NUPLAZIDĀ® (pimavanserin), designed to treat the hallucinations that can accompany Parkinson’s disease – at $23,400 per year, severely limiting patient access to the drug.
In stark contrast, Vincere Biosciences, by making use of tools available on CureHackers, has discovered numerous novel molecules for treating the root cause of Parkinson’s and is currently entering Phase 1 trials–all in under 3 years and for less than $2M.
CureHackers is a freelance platform that connects scientists with drug discovery clients. The platform provides access to a network of potential clients, simplifies the process of finding and contracting freelance work, and helps maximize your opportunities to contribute meaningfully toward curing diseases.
Every freelancer on the platform is vetted and certified with the tool(s) used in the project.
The projects involved in furthering each stage of the preclinical drug discovery process are separated into categories. Clients reference the categories and post their specific need as a project proposal. Freelancers who are certified in the tool(s) required for the project are able to view the project posting, communicate with the client, and bid for the project. When the client chooses a freelancer to contract, the project initiates with a down-payment and the creation of a password-protected project management page on the platform.
When you first apply to join CureHackers, your profile will not yet be visible to clients.
We will contact you to set up a video call interview. If your interview in successful, your freelancer profile page will be created.
For your profile to be visible to clients, you must gain certification for at least one tool on the platform. And to bid on a particular project posting, you must be specifically certified with the tools required for the project.
Each tool has a training program that culminates in certification with that tool. (If you’re adept with a tool that is not already on CureHackers, let us know and we’ll look into adding it. Or, if the tool is your own, you can publish your tool on CureHackers.)
In drug discovery, privacy and the protection of intellectual property are paramount.
To become a freelancer on CureHackers, you will be required to sign a legally-binding contract that covers a range of issues, including:
- Non-Disclosure, prohibiting sharing of any work data/info/product with anyone but the client;
- Intellectual Property Assignment, granting the client full ownership of all work products;
- Conflict of Interest, prohibiting you from working for/with competing clients at the same time.
All project proposals are subject to screening by CureHackers staff to ensure strict adherence to the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BWC), which was signed in 1972 and has been ratified by over 180 countries. The BWC prohibits the development, production, and stockpiling of biological weapons.
As a freelancer on the platform, if you encounter any potential unethical activity being proposed or taking place, report the activity immediately to CureHackers.
